When it comes to lightweight summer fabrics, few materials carry the delicate grace and history of cotton lawn. With its fine weave, soft hand, and gentle drape, lawn cotton has long been a go-to for breezy blouses, airy dresses, and refined shirting. But beyond its tactile charm lies a legacy woven into British textile history—most notably through its iconic association with Liberty London.

And this season, we’re proud to reintroduce this timeless fabric in a new way—through a conscious lens.

 

 

New for Spring/Summer 2025: A Sustainable Story

As part of our ongoing commitment to responsible design, we’re thrilled to introduce a new sustainable chapter to our brand. This year, we’ve added a limited-edition capsule made from end-of-line Liberty cotton lawn—repurposed from one of the most cherished textile archives in the world.

This exclusive fabric are not only a celebration of timeless British printmaking, but also a meaningful step towards reducing waste and preserving textile artistry. Once gone, they won’t be repeated—making each piece uniquely special and inherently collectible.

What Makes Liberty Cotton Lawn So Exceptional?

 

Cotton lawn itself is a finely woven, lightweight cotton known for its silky feel and crisp structure. It’s breathable, soft against the skin, and perfect for warm weather dressing. But Liberty’s version of this fabric—Tana Lawn™—takes it to another level entirely.

Developed by Liberty London in the early 20th century, Tana Lawn™ is named after Lake Tana in Ethiopia, where the original cotton fibres were sourced. The fabric is ultra-fine, smooth as silk, yet incredibly durable. What makes it instantly recognisable, though, are the prints: Liberty’s iconic florals, abstract designs, and heritage patterns are printed with microscopic precision, creating an almost painterly effect on fabric.

Every piece of Liberty lawn tells a story—one of craftsmanship, heritage, and timeless beauty.

Why We Chose It

Incorporating Liberty’s end-of-line cotton lawn into our Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a thoughtful choice rooted in both sustainability and design. We were drawn to this fabric not only for its exceptional lightness and durability, but for the way it moves — soft yet structured, airy yet resilient.

The particular abstract print we selected feels modern yet timeless, and it pairs beautifully with our seasonal palette of soft pinks, shades of plum and silver. It adds a subtle layer of  depth to our feminine silhouettes.
